Helping Your Child In Worship

Helping Your Child In Worship

Discuss the importance of worship on your way to church. Share with them a memory about worship that is meaningful to you.

Arrive on time and locate a seat where your child will be able to easily see the people in worship who are talking and moving.

Allow your child to participate as much as he/she is able. For example,

  • Writing his/her name on the attendance pad
  • Putting the offering into the plate
  • Following along in the bulletin, hymnal, Bible, etc.

Point out the symbols and seasonal changes in the sanctuary and discuss their purpose and meaning.

Allow your child to ask you questions. If you don’t know the answer, discover it together!

Help cultivate a reverent attitude in your child by demonstrating it for them all through worship.

Your child is welcome at the Communion Table at First United Methodist Church. Help him/her to understand this is a very special place to meet and receive Jesus.
