Worship

What to Expect

In the Bible, Jesus said “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Worship is an act of love. We serve and worship God each Sunday when we gather together to sing his praises and listen to his word.

From Labor Day to Memorial Day we worship at 10 a.m. in a traditional setting with a lively and Spirit-filled service in the downtown sanctuary. During the Summer we worship outside at our Davis Park setting (9 a.m.) and in the Sanctuary downtown (10:45 a.m.).   The hour-long service includes a variety of ways to experience God’s grace – prayer, music, scripture, preaching, a celebration of ministries, and giving of gifts.  While maintaining the liturgical practices of Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter, we incorporate our everyday lives into the celebration of worship.

For example. we look forward to Youth Sunday, Children’s Sabbath and Scout Sunday.  Communion is offered the first Sunday of each month.  Children are invited to share communion with their families.  Other Sunday’s children ages 3 years old thru 5th grade are invited to attend Godly Play during the worship hour.

Anderson First is blessed to offer a very wide variety of musical experiences during worship services.  From our traditional Sanctuary Choir, our Women's Choir- "Joyful Sound", Alpha Brass - a brass band of 25-30 brass and percussion musicians, Wesley Chorale- a select vocal ensemble, Arrows of the Almighty - our Praise Group, Joyful Jazz - our big band.......you never know exactly which group will help lead worship through music, but you will know that it will be good!  Many of our ensembles have open membership so you may even want to participate! We look forward to you "singing along".

We are highly committed to the scriptures, to relevant, biblical preaching, and to the vigorous celebration of the Christian community.

At Anderson First you will experience God's presence as we gather.
